Terrain Deformation Mod Gets W40L Digging & Dumping Mechanics

Apr 3, 20262 min readBy BeamNGPitStop Staff

BrokenBrainCells' Terrain Deformation mod received a significant update on April 3, 2026, introducing digging and dumping mechanics specifically for the W40L wheel loader.

What's New

The update adds a custom bucket attachment to the W40L that can interact with the terrain in a physically realistic way. Players can now use the loader to dig into soft terrain and dump the collected material elsewhere. New settings have also been added for tire terrain deformation, allowing players to tune how deeply tires sink into and deform soft ground surfaces.

Why It Matters

Terrain deformation has been one of the most requested features in BeamNG.drive's modding community for years. While the base game has some terrain interaction, this mod pushes the boundaries of what's possible with the existing engine. Combined with the v0.38 Heavy Haul update's new earthmoving vehicles, the Terrain Deformation mod creates a genuinely compelling earthmoving simulation experience.

The mod is available on the BeamNG.drive forums. As with all community mods, ensure your BeamNG installation is up to date before installing.
