'More Dynamic Traffic' Project Announced — AI Will React to Headlights and Horns

Apr 3, 20262 min readBy BeamNGPitStop Staff

A new community mod project titled 'More Dynamic Traffic' has been announced, promising to significantly improve the behaviour of AI traffic vehicles in BeamNG.drive's freeroam mode.

What the Mod Promises

The headline feature is AI drivers that will attempt to move out of the way when players flash their headlights or honk their horns. This adds a meaningful new layer of interaction between the player and traffic, making freeroam driving feel more like navigating real traffic rather than weaving through static obstacles.

Additional planned features include improved lane discipline, more realistic reaction times, and better handling of intersections and roundabouts. The project is still in early development, with no firm release date announced.

Community Reaction

The announcement has generated significant excitement in the BeamNG community, particularly among players who enjoy long freeroam drives and immersive traffic scenarios. The combination of this mod with BeamNG's existing soft-body physics could create some genuinely dramatic traffic interaction moments.
