Dynamic Audio Muffling v0.2.2 Released — Reacts to Open Doors and Missing Roofs

Apr 2, 20262 min readBy BeamNGPitStop Staff

Dynamic Audio Muffling v0.2.2 was released on April 2, 2026, bringing a clever new approach to in-cabin audio simulation in BeamNG.drive.

How It Works

The mod dynamically adjusts the interior audio muffling strength based on the surrounding collision structure of the vehicle. In practical terms, this means the audio experience changes realistically when doors are opened, windows are broken, or roofs are missing. A fully enclosed cabin sounds noticeably more muffled than one that has been opened up or damaged.

Why This Matters

Audio immersion is one of the areas where BeamNG.drive's base game has historically lagged behind its exceptional physics simulation. Mods like Dynamic Audio Muffling help close that gap significantly. The dynamic reaction to structural damage is particularly impressive — as your vehicle gets progressively more damaged, the audio environment shifts accordingly.

The mod is available on the BeamNG.drive resources repository. Compatible with v0.38 and later.
